ColSoc recognises that many people may travel some distance, and book accommodation, in order to attend events. However in some cases it may be necessary for events to be cancelled for a variety of reasons, and so we have a policy around this to provide guidance for attendees.

 

We will make every effort to run events as scheduled but some factors - most notably weather - are beyond our control. Consequently we strongly recommend that all attendees only book accommodation that allows cancellation up to 24 hours prior to arrival.

 

If an event needs to be cancelled due to foreseeable problems, then this will normally be done no later than 48 hours before the event, to allow attendees to amend their plans. Cancellations will be announced on the Beetles-BritishIsles email list, the Beetles of Britain and Ireland and Colsoc Facebook pages, and by email to those of our supporters who have provided email addresses.

 

Despite these precautions, supporters should recognise that sudden unexpected events may force cancellations which cannot be avoided.

 

Attendees should be aware that the ColSoc insurance policy does not cover supporters’ losses due to event cancellation and if they require cover for this then they should hold their own travel insurance.
